Hamba Kahle Farm

Hamba Kahle is a 22-acre farm just outside of Esparto, owned and operated by Cynthia and Mark Havstad. We are currently growing a variety of plums and pluots without pesticides using eco-friendly practices for some of the best-tasting fruit you’ll find. We also raise heritage geese and chickens on pasture. We sell goose eggs in the spring and chicken eggs year round. We will also be offering quality extra virgin olive oil made from a wide variety of Italian, Spanish, Greek, and North African olives beginning in 2019.
Established in 1998 after returning from a wonderful year living in South Africa, the farm name is a fond reminder of the many friends who wished us well with the Zulu refrain “hamba kahle” — “be well” or “go well”.  It is also our hope for those who visit us on our farm or share our fruit, eggs, poultry, and olive oil — to be well.
